Green Dot Stables

Our April Meeting will be in Detroit at the Green Dot Stables. It's a small place, but the atmosphere is perfect and they have some pretty darn good gourmet sliders. Since this is a bar type setting they will be hosting us on a week night, a slower night, so we are prepared to expect a low turnout this time. We do like to try different locations and venues, so this is actually what to expect from us from time to time.

So, come on out, have a slider, a drink or two and get your sketch on!

Kiss me, I'm going to MCS

Our next get together will bring us back to Rainy Day Art Supplies in Grosse Pointe Woods on Saturday, March 16th. The fun starts at 6 and goes to 10, so bring your sketchbook, paints, crayons, or whatever. We'll be hanging out and talking the usual nonsense.

Fresh Brains At Green Brain Comics!

Well, maybe not so fresh with some of us.

Anyways, our first meet up of the year will be at Green Brain Comics in Dearborn this Friday evening. Dan and Katie Merritt have graciously offered to host us and hopefully not for the last time. As most of you know, we at MCS like to bounce around the metro area from time to time to expose ourselves to more artists and locations. We've had great success doing this and having our meetings at new locations gives us a fresh outlook with new experiences. So, come on down if you are in the area and say hi and just hang out with some cool cats.

December meeting/Holiday Party

This month's get together will be at the River's Edge Gallery in Wyandotte this Sunday starting at 5:00pm. This will double as the official MCS Holiday party, as well, so if you have any goodies or libations to bring along, please do so. This will be our second year having the party at the gallery, so we give a big thanks to Patt Slack, Jeremy Hansen and Jay Ray for being gracious enough to host our get together. It's always a good time and if you have some free time during the hustle and bustle of the season come on down to Wyandotte to unwind. Here's the details:

November Meeting

This month's meet up will be this Friday in Ypsilanti at the Eagle Crest inside the Ann Arbor Marriott. Some of you will recall, this was the location of the sketch group Ink & Stein, which folded a few years ago. So, to spread our wings to a different location and to honor those from I&S, we will be heading more western from where we usually hang. Here are the details:

September Meeting and Aquarium Fundraising

Our next gathering will be tomorrow evening at Tracey's Corner Cafe from 6-10pm. As usual, we will meet in the basement and resume our usual nerdery.

Earlier this month MCS had a presence at the Grosse Pointe art festival, Art & Sole and we did sketches for the Belle Isle Aquarium. We raised $1200.00 over the two days and below is the letter we received back from the Belle Isle Conservancy thanking us for the donation. Well done MCS!

Art & Sole Festival

Motor City Sketch will be at the Art & Sole Fest in Grosse Pointe this weekend doing sketches and selling original artwork all the proceeds from these will be donated to the Belle Isle Aquarium and their efforts to open on a regular basis and to maintain costs of doing so. Jay Shimko, Jon Wallace, John Marroquin, Chris Sanchez and Bruce Gerlach will be on hand doing sketches. All the artists will also be selling their own materials such that one would see at cons.

Come on down, this will be the first time illustrators will be represented at the festival!
